Sound of Freedom

The movie, Sound of Freedom, is a heavy movie. Because it’s a hard topic.

I’m glad that I saw it this week. But… I pray that people will not forget a few facts:

  • Over 80% of children trafficked in the US are American citizens.

  • Over 60% of those trafficked are trafficked by family or close friends.

  • Americans are the biggest purchasers of sex and its byproducts (porn).

  • Our FBI partners have repeatedly said that fewer than 1% of trafficking victims (in the US) have been kidnapped.

Please see the movie. But don’t lose track of the fact that it’s not just a problem “over there.” It’s happening where each of us live.

And I pray that the movie prompts those who see it to take action. Our ministry focus is the anti-trafficking world. Here are some specific ways to combat trafficking:

  • Add this contact to your phone: National Human Trafficking Hotline (888) 373-7888. If you suspect you’ve seen or met a trafficking victim, please call this number and report all that you’ve observed.

  • Pray for our ministry! That is the foundation of our effectiveness.

  • Donate new items for our Hope Bags: Hope Bags – Reclaiming Hope (reclaiming-hope.org). Each item has the potential of easing a victim’s stress.

  • Get informed: take a Human Trafficking 101 course online: TraffickWatch – The Exodus Road

  • In Colorado Springs, attend the monthly Human Trafficking Task Force meeting, the second Tuesday of each month. Info at: Home | Httf (ht-colorado.org)

  • Pray about becoming a Mentor with Reclaiming Hope (walking with a survivor) – we’re holding our next training in August! Mentor Program – Reclaiming Hope (reclaiming-hope.org)

  • Attend any of the events listed below!

And, of course, please feel free to support our work. Donations make our work possible.

If you want to know more, check out our website, or connect directly with us.

NEWS: Our office lease is about to expire. And we have OUTGROWN our current space. Watch for news – everything is on track to be finalized next week for an exciting new location. If it all works, we will try to move before August 1! The new location is above and beyond all we could have asked for. We’ll be needing lots of help to make the move happen smoothly – please let Allison know if you can volunteer: allison@reclaiming-hope.org .

Trafficking is happening in every neighborhood. Help to make a difference.

Blessings,
