The 2021 Trafficking in Persons federal report is here, and it has a lot of information and guidance for everyone who interacts with human trafficking Survivors.

The report includes more than just a record of countries and how well they support Survivors. We can now read about how COVID-19 has impacted trafficking around the world. Now, more than ever, it’s important for NGOs, governments, volunteers and prayer warriors to work together.

The report emphasizes the importance of trauma- and survivor-informed care. There is a guide for how to hire and empower Survivors. It’s a wonderful reminder that we can all play a role in lifting Survivors up.

The report also detailed how technology, the financial sector, misinformation about trafficking (Hollywood-ized interpretations) and racism all factor into how trafficking can take place in the 21st century. It’s important to note how we play a role in perpetuating the cycle of trafficking.

This week and month, join us in prayer for the women in Afghanistan. This country’s government is one of 12 marked in the previous year’s report for having a “policy or pattern” of trafficking. We pray for peace, for equity, education and resources to be available to women and girls in that country, and for violence to cease. It breaks our heart to witness the events we’ve seen this month. May we lift up every woman in Afghanistan and Survivors of violence and abuse around the world.

COLORADO HUMAN TRAFFICKING COUNCIL CAMPAIGN
This campaign is designed to increase awareness about human trafficking in Colorado and educate the public on the essential facts. The campaign sets out to combat misperceptions and give our communities and potential victims ways to learn more, report suspicious situations, or get connected to services.

TRIGGER WARNING: Survivor’s story through two pimps shared in ELLE
This is a powerful story of a brave woman from Greeley, Colorado, who was trafficked by two different men in Colorado and Las Vegas. She is now gathering other women’s stories for research and a better understanding of how human trafficking has flourished through the internet and social media. This story is very in-depth and contains graphic, traumatic experiences. Please read at your discretion.

LIFE SENTENCE GIVEN
After this perpertrator from Adams County was sentenced in 2017, two additional victims came forward to testify against him.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Please remember that we are again hosting monthly prayer times at the office, the last Thursday of each month, 6-7 p.m. Please join us – Thursday, September 30 for our next gathering!
  • Pray for our Mentees:  One is moving through the grieving process. Another is pursuing sobriety. One is navigating pregnancy. Another needs a new housing solution. And another is working through a challenging career change.
  • Please pray for Reclaiming Hope advocates to speak up about our mission and dedicate their time and resources to providing for the Restoration Bag program.
  • Please pray that each Bag given to a Survivor speaks love, dignity and respect to them.
  • May our September 12 Celebration honor the Lord.

Praise for our supporters leading up to our September Celebration!
